Shelby started going to nursery a couple months ago and has absolutely loved it! Every time we pick her up her faced is just beaming. She is so proud to show us the little drawing or activity they do. This past week they colored a picture that said I am a child of God on it and made a necklace that says the same. So far, Shelby has wanted to wear the necklace everyday. Each morning after breakfast, she walks over to it, grabs it, and puts it on. I have the hardest time taking it off for naps. She loves it. She wears it every where. To the store, park, you name it.
At first I was embarrassed for her to wear it in public. Just nervous about what people would think. I was wrong. If Shelby was so proud that she was a child of God, and not afraid to let people know, then so should I.
Children are so innocent and aren't afraid to show what they want, or think. I can get so caught up in worrying what people think that I forgot I should wear my testimony on my sleeve!
Each day that I put that necklace on Shelby I visually see that she is a child of God. Our Heavenly Father has entrusted me with Shelby and Sadies sweet spirits to love, and take care of. It has helped me be more patient with them. I am taking care of Heavenly Fathers children. He would want them to get the very best, so it helps me try my very best.
Every little mundane task, changing diapers, making bottles, cleaning up toys for the billionth time that day, isn't just for nothing. I am serving him, taking care of his children.
Not only has it been a great reminder that Shelby and Sadie are children of a loving heavenly father, this has also been such a great reminder to me daily that I am a child of God. No matter what age. I get so busy in the hussle and bussle of daily activities that I don't take time to remember I am loved and important. When you remember those things it changes your whole outlook on each day. I have been happier, more patient, and loving to myself.
Our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us. We need to remember that. We will treat ourselves differently, and also everyone else. Can you only imagine how we would treat others if everyone had a sign on them saying "I am a Child of God"?
