The Importance of Visiting Teaching

The Relief Society Presidency and I, wanted to let the sisters in our ward know that Visiting Teaching is important. I came up with this handout to give to the sisters along with the list of who they visit. We wanted them to know that there are many ways to reach out to the sisters in our ward. It turned out very cute and hopefully will help them remember to go each month, and know how important their calling is.

On the handout I included a poem titled, I'm Just a Visiting Teacher, Author Unknown. And a quote from Thomas S. Monson - "We are surrounded by those in need. We are the lords hands here upon this earth, with the mandate to lift & serve his children."

I know sometimes we focus so much on the numbers, on getting 100% each month, which isn't a bad thing. But if we were to focus on the sisters we go to, and truly serve them, visiting teaching will become the lords work, and not just something we have to get done every month. You will build strong friendships, and bring many to the church. Visiting teaching isn't just about the numbers. Your sisters aren't just another check list. They need to become a friend, someone you care about.

"A sister in the church has no other responsibility outside of her family, that has the potential to do as much good as does visiting teaching." -Julie B Beck
